Here is something I have come across lately, thought I would share it to shed some light on DVD playing and burning problems.
A friend was going through a 50pk of Verbatim 16X -R MCC03RG20 Disc's. These have been very good for me! With 15 left everyone he burned at 6X in his Sony DRU800A none would play. He bought different media problem solved, I asked him to save them I wanted to test. Below are three different disc identifier tools, with a good Verbatim 16X -R MCC03RG20 Disc mine, and his he had trouble with Verbatim 16X -R MCC03RG20.
Both bought at local Best Buy on sale. Notice the (Available Write Descriptor IN Roxio DVDInfo Pro ) ( Write speeds in CDDVDSpeed ) and ( Write Speeds Supported By This Drive On This Disc in DVD.Identifier ) Plus the MID ( Media code/Manufacturer ID ) There the same Verbatim 16X -R MCC03RG20 Disc's from two different packs.
Even after I saw the write speed was 4X and burned at 4X, only a new Sony DVD settop player would play!
What happened at the factory with these disc's, good question! With a disc identifier tool and disc quality tool, one can trouble shoot his or her problems. How many times have I read ( I'm using the same disc's from the same spindle that worked in another version of Roxio ). Why did my Plextor show a 4X burn speed only, and my friends Sony let him burn a 6X on a 4X disc? Firmware and support for media is not equal in all burners.
Use these tools that's what they were made for and do work!

At one time there was a warning to never buy a car that was made on a Monday (hang-overs) or on a Friday (getting ready to get gone for the weekend).
Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.
