I am trying to incorporate a slideshow in my dvd.  When I insert a slideshow, it becomes an unlinked button.  When I play the slideshow, it goes back to the menu when finished.  I would like to create a movie that starts with a slideshow  (as the first chapter), then continue through the other chapters.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks!

Only the Deluxe version of EMC8 allows the continuous play of all titles on the main menu.  If you have the standard (also called the Suite) version, the option to play the next title is not available.  In other words, returning to the menu is the only option available by design for any version other than the Deluxe.

To check which version you have, open MyDVD, click Help/About on the tool bar, and check the build number.  If it is does not begin with 806, then you cannot do what you want.

Hope that helps

The only other option would be to put the video and slideshow under one button, but I think you have to use Videowave to accomplish that.

Create a Videowave project
Add the video
Add a slideshow
etc.
Save the project

Load MyDVD
Add the Videowave Project
This creates a button that 'Plays All'

Copy the button to the clipboard
Paste it back
Rename it 'Play Scenes' (or whatever you like)
Right click on it and Edit Chapters
Mark the chapters where the video and slideshow starts
This creates a second button with a submenu to select the video or slideshow.

You end up with two buttons that 'point' to the same movie: one plays all and the other takes you to a submenu.

Can you add the movie to the Videowave project that incorporates the changes made in MyDVD (ie transitions, trimming, etc), or would you have to add the raw movie clips?

Also, will this method add to the overall file size?

Thanks!

Any edits done in MyDVD, stay in MyDVD. There is no way to output to file in MyDVD. You would have to add the raw footage and edit again in Videowave.  Using Videowave should not add to the overall size.
