Some of my computer hardware and software is in storage in San Diego. I am now living in Phoenix, AZ. I have some CDs with me that contain backup files from a notebook computer that crashed with a hard disk failure. I would like to access the backup files right now. I think the Roxio version I made the backups with was version 8, but I could be wrong.

I could not verify that I registered my product, but what would be great is if I could download a replacement copy of my install disk. I should probably be directing this to customer service.

I doubt that you can get the install disc from Roxio but you might find an old version on e-bay.

Do you remember if you used drag to disc to back up the files?  You would have had to format the disc (for packet writing).  How valuable are the files,  You can download and try ISOBuster to see what is on those discs and if they are recoverable.  You would have to pay to actually recover the files.
Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.

Thanks for the tips. I just googled Roxio version 8 and there are several copies for sale on the web that go from $10 to 28. Now I am wondering if this old version will ply on System 7.

I'll try isobuster. Never knew about that.

If you mean W7, then no, only Creator 2010 and Creator 2011 are designed to work with W7.
