What are the Data_.roxio files created after burning a CD?
Can they be used for anything and if so how?

Example: Data_062210_132320.roxio

What version are you using and what application.  How are you burning the CD?  Where do you find that file?
Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.

Laptop - Windows 7 Home
Dell XPS 1645, Intel I7 1,6G with overdrive ,4G RAM, 1 GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5730, Sound Blaster X-Fi MB Panzer, 500G hard drive.

Apple =OSX 10.5

The whole situation is...my computer has Roxio Easy Media Creator 7 Basic Edition, another person in my work group has Roxio Creator Business DVD V10.
To burn a CD, the folders/files to copy to a Data/Disc is chosen.  Once all of the files are put in the window, it is saved and then it makes that Data_.roxio file which she saves. She doesn't know what to do with it and I can't open it. I'm wondering what it is and what it is for.

Once the files are put into the window, why doesn't she just burn them to a CD, then?  All that she has to do is click on the Burn button in the upper right corner of the window.

I'll ask her, but in the mean time, do you know what that Data_.roxio file is? She's been saving them and if they are useless, we'll delete them. If they have some sort of value, I would like to know what it is. Could it be an encrypted copy of the files that where burned? Any ideas?

I don't know.  I don't remember what the saved files extensions are, for that version of Roxio, but maybe that is the file extension for the projects she has saved.  If she actually burned the CD, then they are not needed.

If she hasn't burned them to CDs, tell her to open whatever program she used, and see if she can open one of those files.

The .roxio file is just a saved Data Project file of what she wants to burn to a disc. It contains no files, just instructions on what she wants to burn. You cannot open that project file because your 'Basic" version does not contain the application needed to open the project file. The first version that did was the Retail version of 7.5

Even if you had the software to open the file, it would probably just give you errors since it wouldn't be able to find the files listed in the project on your computer that it ponts to.

What she needs to do, after adding the files she wants to burn to the project, is to use the Burn function (red button in the lower right corner of the screen I believe) to burn the files to a disc.
