Thank you for your reply. I did move the burner to a different USB port; same response. I did reload the discs I received from Roxio. But I don't know if that includes the driver you are referring to. I purchaced a Maddog burner that contained the Roxio 7.5. Is there other drivers I should be aware. Thanld Jeff

Not what I asked! A differsnt USB device ( not the Maddog you have already said that don't work ) to see if the USB worked with that ( a printer or scanner)?

Received from Roxio! Are those disc's ones you bought retail box version? Or the disc's that came with the Maddog ( Roxio 7.5 disc's came with it )?
Reload? Did you uninstall the Roxio software from Add Remove Programs first? Or just reload the software on top of the current instalation?

You should not require a driver for the USB in Windows XP, is that your operating system?
What software if any, or updating to the PC. Did you do around the time it quit working?
There might be a Firmware update in the link ogdens posted, if Maddog sent you a new burner I would think it has the new Firmware. And if Windows don't see the burner, I would wait to apply any new Firmware update.

You might try replacing the USB cable. It's a long shot, but USB cables have been know to fail.
You also might want to check the website of the DVD Burner manufacturer. Sometimes they have software to check the device and see if it's working properly.

The Discs came with the Maddog. One disc is the "roxio easy media" with the P/N number. The other disc is called "contents". I de-installed the original installation first and then re-installed it again.
I still don't know where the "drivers" come from some people are referring, unless they are on the Roxio Disc. Maddog has a site with Firmware files. But, since I have a new burner from them I am assuming that is ok. Thanks jeff

OOps! sorry. The OS is XP Pro
" I purchaced a Maddog burner that contained the Roxio 7.5. ".(quote from post #3)
What this means is you have a OEM version of Roxio.
The following is a short version of OEM:
An OEM is usually a version that a large computer manufacturer buys and installs to sell pre-installed on their computer (sometimes they may add features that are only available in the full retail Platinum edition) The computer buyer gets a copy of the pre-installed software in case they have to reinstall it on their computer. For example, if the files get corrupt or the hard drive has to be reformatted, that computer user needs a copy of the software to reinstall the software that came with the computer. OEM means Original Equipment Manufacturer.
Some OEM, versions come with CD burners. (THIS IS WHAT YOU HAVE)
These "Basic" versions vary and are customized to fit the contract of the OEM purchaser.
Likewise, ALL support comes from your OEM provider and not from Roxio. Contact your OEM provider and see what they have to say( In your case Maddog).
We (your fellow user's) have no idea what Maddog did or did not do to the OEM software they got from Roxio
to make it work with their burner.
