I'm a newbie to Roxio Easy Media Creator 8.0 and to this forum. I am struggling through some of the HELP topics and still need to try some of the tutorials that I understand are available. What would be of greater help to me, would be a hands-on class. Does anyone offer classes (I am in Northern California) or can someone please direct me to a post or thread on this board that can help me find an expert who would be willing to assist a novice? Even an Internet link to available classes would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. :)

I'm not aware of any classes that are available but that doesn't mean your local CompUSA doesn't offer any. This is a users forum and here to help other users. Perhaps, after viewing the tutorials, you could ask for specific help here. It's a good bet someone can help you.

Excellent...I will try to pick that up this weekend. When I get some free time, of course I will access the tutorials. I do understand this is a forum for questions, but need to get to a point where I know what to ask.

Thanks to both of you for your help. I'll be back with questions eventually. :)

I'm sure there are many on this forum that can answer most of the question you might have. One suggestion however. When you get back to the forum with some questions, please put the computer spec's on your post. (i.e. processor, memory, graphics (video) card, hard drive space etc. and any other spec's that you think might help others to focus in on your problem or question. You're welcome anytime :)

Thanks for the link to that System Program as I was able to update my profile information. :)

Only question I have at this time is if there is some way to save files so they can be posted on a website for viewing (if the viewer had the Roxio application on their system)?

Hmm, well, pretty easy to understand :)
Hit PrintScreen for a full screen capture
Hit Alt+PrintScreen for capturing the active window
Hit Ctrl+PrintScreen for a custom area capture
You can set up the capture folder / filename and format (.jpg/.png/.bmp/.gif supported)
You can eventually reduce the capture size.
You can FTP upload your captures to your website !

Auto-generate filename option will add the time stamp (date/time) to your filename in order to be able to take several captures without having to change the filename.
Please do not add the extension for the filename !

You can change the sound when the capture is done : simply replace the file Done.wav by yours (just keep the name done.wav)
cd

Thanks cdan...my boss at work has a screen capture program, so I've seen how that technology works. If you use something like that, doesn't seem like it would capture the Roxio transitions and pan and zooms, etc., but I am such a novice that maybe I need to read your info a few more times to let it sink in. :)

I ordered the Roxio books, so there is hope for me yet.

If you have a web site and use something like FrontPage, you can upload movies (files) just like images. It depends on the size of your movie and web site owner if you can do this. In most cases, the files must be short or lower resolution.

BTW, you have looked at the "Tutorial" movies on-line haven't you? They are very basic but they can get you started.
PC Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
Velocity Micro ProMagix ©HD 60; evga x58 motherboard, Intel i7 @2.93, 6G RAM, EVGA Nvidia 560TI superclocked video card, SoundBlaster X-Fi Xtreme audio card, Buffalo external blu-ray burner; Creator 2011.

Laptop - Windows 7 Home
Dell XPS 1645, Intel I7 1,6G with overdrive ,4G RAM, 1 GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5730, Sound Blaster X-Fi MB Panzer, 500G hard drive.

Apple =OSX 10.5
MacBook Pro; 15.4-inch widescreen display, 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB memory, 200GB hard drive, 8x SuperDrive (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW), NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT with 256MB of GDDR3 memory. ILife 08, Toast 10, Final Cut Express 4 and Photoshop 4.

I was thinking of putting the entire presentation on the web, but putting each of the movies makes more sense. Needless to say, I will watch that tutorial. Thank you. :)
