Hi, I have been encountering a strange problem when trying to burn small .avi files to a CD-R. If I burn the file to the disc and leave it open, it will play on windows 7 but will not even be read in windows XP. But if I close the disc the file all of a sudden becomes unreadable. Windows media player say cannot play. What I would like to do is burn the video file to the disc, close it, and be able to take the file from computer to computer and play the video off the disc. Does anyone know why this would be happening?

The full correct name and version number of the Roxio Software your using?

Is it a bought version or came free with the PC?

What application within the Roxio Software Suite are you using to burn a avi to CD leaving it open or closed?

I've never heard of a program that has to use drag to disc (packet writing software).

It is a OEM version, some sold it like here.>> http://www.viosoftwa...9.1+XE+OEM.html

I'm not familiar with the contents of this OEM Software.

I would suggest using Creator Classic or Data Disc Project if it's available in 9.1 XE and it should fix your problems.

It is DVR software that encodes recorded video and burns it to a CD using roxio drag to disk. I would just like to know why closing the disk could cause the file to stop working. It works fine when you leave the disk open.

How many times do we have to ask: what is the name of the program you are using?

It's our own custom software, why is it relevant? The same results are achieved when manually burning video with drag to disk. I'm asking why closing a disk with an AVI file on it would cause it to stop working. Our DVR software has absolutely nothing to do with it.

If it is not relevant then why are you claiming that the software requires you to use Drag-to-disc?

Is the EMC 9 installed on your XP system or on the Windows 7 system?

It is relevant, because you have some proprietary software, and EMC 9 certainly wasn't designed to work with that software.

Modify your software to make it work.
