Toast keeps telling me to either Defrag my mac volume, or to check Optimize on the Fly..

Is there any way around this?

I have a HFS+ Temp volume created, and Toast's optimize function will destroy that.

Considering that this a brand new partition, why would i need to defrag it?

Any help would be great..

Custom Hybrid is an old format.  Try using a temp HFS volume instead and see where that gets you.

If you don't have any shared data between ISO and HFS+, then you don't need Optimize on the fly and it will work.  With shared data, you must use optimize on the fly.

Mac&PC format should do what you need, unless you need specific ISO settings.

I have spent hours experimenting and have come to realize Toast just won't do everything I have as criteria for a hybrid CD with Windows software on one "side" and Macintosh software on the other.

Here is my criteria:
1) Windows & Macintosh volume names must be different.
2) Must have HFS+ Macintosh file system otherwise it truncates long package names within the installer app.
3) Share files (PDF Files specifically) between the two sides.

Here are the problems I run into:
1) If I use Mac & PC I can't name the volumes different so I have to use Custom Hybrid.
2) If I use Custom Hybrid, I must uncheck "Optimize on-the-fly" to get the Mac OS Extended (HFS+) file system.
3) 100% of the time I get an error saying I need to defrag with 3rd party software.  I tried making the temporary partition with Toast and with Disk Utility--both failed.
4) I actually tried defragging/optimizing the temporary partition using 3rd party software and it still fails.  I even created a Macintosh-only CD and used that as the source.  It also fails.  That means Toast is inaccurately reporting an error-- something I detest!

So let's say I give up on the idea that I want different volume names and am willing to name both sides of the CD the same.  I tried Mac & PC...

I have several hundred Windows files that should not show up on the Mac volume so I have to individually click each checkbox to remove the checkmark on those Windows files.  Do you have any idea how long it takes to click that many checkboxes?  I would be semi-satisfied if there were an "Uncheck All" checkbox because I'd start there and since I only have a handful of Mac files and I'd simply click those to set the checkmark.  This is a horrible user interface and a waste of my time.

I work with software for a major Fortune 50 company and we put out hybrids on a regular basis.  We just bought version 7 of Toast Titanium a few months ago and it's already outdated.  I made sure I applied all the latest patches.  Toast was adequate when I only needed HFS but now that we switched installers and need HFS+, I'm looking for other software because of all the problems I've had creating hybrid CDs with Toast.  I'm a little disgusted at this point!
