I created a project using HD videos and a single MYDVD Slideshow of about 30 digital still images.  I selected the "KIDS" menu style and created 6 chapters and adding nothing to the native video in terms of soundtrack, etc.   I then tried to burn the project to an ISO.   THe datasize reported as necessary required an Dual Layer DVD and was about 5.7 gig in size.  I started the burn process with the options set to create an ISO only.  The encoding process took 10 hours and upon reaching the last step where it reports it is "writing" it failed with the errors shown in the attached screen shot. After several additional tries with the same result, I changed the menu style to "SNAPSHOTS" and proceeded with another burn attempt.  I noticed that even though it contained the exact same files the project size now was considerably less then previously reported.. less than 3 gig... and, now it would fit on a single DVD, and when I burned it again to an ISO image instead of taking 10 hours it took less than 45 minutes and worked fine when I burned it to a DVD.

So.. does this mean there is a problem with the "BALLOON" menu style?

Thanks all...

I bet you made another change that you may not have noticed.  Did you follow this process (link)?  That is the cure for the () error.
Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.

How much did we bet.. because you would lose!   No... I did not use the procedure you recommended..... simply changed the menu style as stated.

And.. just for the purpose of complete accuracy in communications.....your procedure is not a "cure", it is an absolutely brilliant and well thought out and horribly complex workaround.  Roxio obviously has a coding error with this process which they need to fix with an update.

Thanks..

Picky, picky, picky.    Actually it is not a workaround, it is best practices.  Sorry for the loose use of the term cure.   As you noted it is an issues that does not always happen.

I bet Vic wouldn't have minded!  ;)

For the sake of accuracy don’t you think you might have mentioned the other Topic you are running, HERE???

Most likely the 2 problems are related and may go away after you run the repair…

It's possible... I'll take it under advisement.  I'm not quite sure what "repair" would do.. .as the program is working fine in all other respects, and even works fine when using a different menu style.  I'm guessing this is a Roxio coding issue combined with very poor error trapping.
