Did you try the suggestion in post #18?

All hardware is working properly.

I mentioned that by swapping SATA hard disks I can go from Vista to WinXP with the same results.

I also mentioned that Audacity has no problem capturing audio.

I also mentioned "Through its built-in software I can see the audio coming in and set the audio level."  Referring to the SigmaTel software.

EDIT:

I forgot that on my DeskTop PC I had the Microsoft AMCAP utility v1.0 and I copied it to the Latitude.  It has NO PROBLEMS capturing Video and Audio.

I geuess this is it then.

The problem is with Roxio.  There is a most definitely a bug in the software and I can't fathom why Dell would provide BUGGY software with Latitude notebooks, even at a lowered cost.

The fact that AMCAP.EXE v1.0 can capture BOTH Audio and Video speaks volumes.  Especially considering it is not a newbie software utility.  In fact it is more than 10 years old.  I also found the freeware Fx Video Capture is able to capture BOTH Audio and Video.

I don't know when the publish data of Roxio Premier v10.2 was performed but I got the software in 2009 with my Dell and if Roxio drops support and calls it Legacy that quickly then that is problematic.

Roxio never supported your software.  It is the responsibility of Dell, to do so.

No argument that you have a problem with the Dell software.  At this point I would go to them to ask questions.  Don't let them tell you that they don't support the software - by agreement, they have to.  Perhaps it is fixed in a later version, ask them for a free update to Creator 10.3.

The software was a freebie (no cost) teaser to entice you to but the full version.
Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.

Roxio Creator 10.2 DE is the freebie.

Roxio Premier is the one which adds to the cost of the base Dell system when purchased and unlike the Roxio Creator 10.2 DE software, this version isn't Dell branded.

Dell wants $$ for supporting software.  I've spent enough on this platform.

Since I own the license to the software, I uninstalled it on the Dell Latitude D620 and re-installed it on my ASUS desktop platform.

Roxio has a responsibility to support ANY software they create.  The only question - to what degree.

It is not Dell software nor is it Dell branded software.

Unlike the Roxio DE versions bundled with Dell platforms, the Roxio Premier CDROM does not have the text printed on it "not licensed for individual resale".

EDIT:

Albeit, the installation CDROM does have folders such as "EMC_DELL_1015" so it is OEM'd to Dell.

Put my foot in my mouth :P
The CDROM is labeled "not licensed for individual resale".  Circa 2008

I was wrong.  I had to dig up the CD as I had copied the CD contents to a hard disk.

The CD is actually labeled...
"Roxio Creator Premier SD 10.2"

I think I (and others) got lost in some of the posts.   What is the version number for the Roxio Premier CDROM?    Is it this one?  You kept talking about 10.2.  Post a picture of the box.  I don't think we can offer any more suggestions but it will help others who may have that software.

From the Roxio KB articles

If you have an OEM (original equipment manufacturer) version of Roxio software, please note that it is supported by the vendor that bundled or installed the Roxio product with their hardware or software. For more information about OEM support policies, please read the article What is OEM software?

Dell signed an agreement on the bundling deal where they agreed to provide support. If they are trying to tell you it's 'not their problem' - actually it is.

That being said, we are willing to try helping, but you have to understand that we are NOT Roxio Tech Support and we do not have access to the Dell variant to test it
