Hi all,

I know I've encountered posts corresponding exactly to this problem but nobody seems to have found a solution. So here i go..

I'm currently distributing DVD copies (connected to a health awareness campaign) to the public.

I've opted for the slowest burning process (x4) and checked 'verify' in the options menu to play it safe. I'm using two computers (both DELL, running Roxio 10). On one occasion a message featured onscreen saying that the files on the DVD do not correspond to the image on the hard disc. Some advised me not to bother and so after playing the DVD (which seemed to work just fine) i put a very little mark on it for identification and sent it out for distribution. Some days later this same DVD was returned, the only copy ever returned.

Since a week or so the verification process on the same computer computer started to fail repetitively, featuring the message mentioned above.

I've tried sourcing an image from different master copies but the problem persisted. The funny thing is that the other computer burns copies from the same sources without a hitch.

I've tried using different media - no use.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled roxio 10  - no use

I've also tried a longer uninstallment process - assuring a complete deletion of the programme and then tried installing it again - no use.

I formatted the hard disc and installed roxio 9 this time - no use.

I changed the DVD writer  - no use.

The computer technicians at work are kind of confused now, they never seem to have come across this problem, maybe because there's a tendency to skip verification.

Any advice?

I have moved your post to a more appropriate forum. Why did you post in the C2009 forum for Blue Ray/AVCHD burning?

Forget about using the verification process, it is totally unreliable. I don't know of anybody here that uses it.

Hi, sry I'm a bit new to all this, didn't know where to post the new message.

I find the verification option quite reliable.. so far i've distributed 500 copies, one of which had failed verification.. that same DVD (which i had previously marked with a little dot) was returned. (i think verification can detect very small glitches, even though the dvd seems to be working fine)

Anyway, now i got to know why i was getting all those failures. The newly installed drive was defective. Even though the drive could burn copies, it was leaving very little glitch somewhere in the feature - and the verification option could detect this!

... this goes on to prove that verification works (at least to some extent), especially if you want to make sure of the quality of your dvd
