I used to be able to do this regularly, then one day recently it stopped working and I don't know why. I use Sound Editor several times per week and open a mp3 files that I have recorded using my Samsung device. I then want to edit the long files and chop the mp3 files to smaller mp3 files. I can open the files and play them in Sound Editor just fine. However, the moment that I go to export a section, or a selection, I get the dialog box and enter name, etc. All the settings seem right. However, the moment I start the export, the process only creates a zero-byte file with the name and nothing is exported. No "progress" bar pops up either. However, I can export to the WMA format just fine and it works as usual with progress bar and all. I have thought that perhaps I have a bad file somewhere that needs to be replaced / updated but not sure what it would be or where. I did find this file in the lame folder: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Roxio Shared\SharedCom\Lame\lame-3.96.1.tar.gz but I'm not sure if this would help me. I am at a loss. Anyone got any ideas or knowledge on how Sound Editor interacts with the LAME mp3 files exactly?
