Does any splash screen show up before you get this error?

I haven't be able to do anything since I purchased this software. I got a roxio disk with my cam corder that was suppose to allow me to capture the video onto my pc and edit it. I connect my camcorder to the usb on the front of my pc using the supplied DV-USB connection cable. I loaded the disk for the Roxio Software that cam with it and it tells me I need to upgrade to Roxio 8 to capture video ..so i uninstalled the roxio on the disk that i loaded and downloaded the roxio 8 from this site for 49.99 and I still cannot capture video..about ready to ask for a refund... I removed all older video caputer software from my pc , such as studio 8 with movie box and arcsoftVideo impression...i also ran my regesrty mechanic tool to clean up my registry files and i get the same errors trying to capture the video from my camcorder to my pc..thats all i wanna do so i can edit and make DVDS from our home videos. Why do you have to be a genious to do all this? Please Help ..IF I cannot get this to work i will be expecting a refund!

To capture video from a digital camcorder via EMC you have to use a firewire connection. USB will not work.
You also have to have the latest version of DirectX (9c) installed

This Roxio crap is what cam with my camera and the cable i use to attach it to my camera is what cam with it...
also quoted from the instruction manual this is the correct cable to use..and i quote the instruction manual:
"With the supplied USB cable and the Roxio MyDVD for Canon software you can transfer the movies and still images you recorded, from the disc to the computer and easily edit them. For further details about using Roxio MDV for Canon, refer also to the software tutorial and help modules."
---from Page 104 of the Canon DC20 Manual , UNDER THE TRANSFERRINF RECORDINGS TO A COMPUTER section.
Unbealvable..they make is sound so simple...so i do this last night ..I load up the Roxio DVD i got with my camcorder from the store.. i goto trans the video and of coarse it tells me i cannot do that with this version of Roxio..click her for an upgrade.. so i click here and it brings me to the page where i can download the latest version of Roxio ..Roxio 8 FOR JUST 49.99 and enjoy the power and all the benifits..of which i have seen none of! If I dont have this working by the end of the day I will post this garbage all over the internet, contact my Lawyer and get my full refund because this is freaking redicuals..I never knew you would have to get a BA degree to run a simple freaking video editiing program! DAM!

Just want to clarify the capture issue with Canon DC10/20/40. The screenshot below is taken from page 107 of the instruction manual that came with Canon devices

If a user clicks on Capture Video instead of Open Disc, the user would be prompt to upgrade.

I have had this software for 6 months. I have tried everything the lasts three times I tried to use it-I spent over 6 houts trying to get videowave to put together a photo and music project. Today, another 6 hours...same problem..you get to the encoding and it spends an hour or hour and a half and then give you an error message. I did not have problems with EMC7 and EMC7.5. What is wrong with this software?
I have repeatedly tried to reach anyone for assistance and you just get shoved from place to place! I am truly frustrated. I called the customer service number and they suggested I spend another $99 for EMC8 Deluxe. I also downloaded the hotfix for error 80005004. I do not know what to do next. Any suggestions?

A good idea would be to post your system specs, here. Similar to what I have in my signature.

I just got this from my systems tools section. I probably put too much in here. I apologize...just am not aware of what or if this important.
thank you for your response. I just need to know if 1. I have the proper equipment and 2. if my drivers and memory are sufficient. If they are...it must be the program.
thank you and God bless...Eugenia
