Easy Cd Creator 5

i have outdated easy cd creator 5 which generally works just fine for me.  but now trying to burn a new cd i get the message "This drive is in use by another Application:  Roxio DirectCD Kernel'.  Easy CD Creator cannot use it until the application is completed."  can anyone help me get past this message?  Thanks!

Sounds like you have placed a cd in your burner that has been formatted (by DirectCD).
Use a disc that comes right of the packet/spindle.

You could always disable Direct CD to prevent this problem occurring. It won't disturb normal operation of Easy CD Creator. There are two ways you can do this:

[1] if you're familiar with the use of REGEDIT, delete the entry "AdaptecDirectCD" from the
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run key

or [2] If you don't want to edit your registry,
-go to Start > Run and enter msconfig.exe
-click on the 'Selective Startup' radio button
-click on the 'Startup' tab and uncheck the entry for DirectCD

-click OK, and then restart your Windows.
