Hi, I just got popcorn 2. I am getting compression errors almost everytime. Actually I have had only one successful dvd copy in about 15 attempts. I am using MTR full disk mode. I tried to delete the pref thing in library but had the same result. It compresses for about 15 to 20 minutes, then I get the compression error. I don't think that I have bad dvd's to begin with because they play in all of the players and the hd copy on the computer behaves the way it is supposed to. I have been using popcorn one back home along with toast and I have successfully copied I nearly everytime I tried (scores of dvds) so I have faith in these products but I just need help trying to figure out why it is so useless on this machine. It is a mac mini. 512 mb. I have 1G back home. Would that make the difference? Help us Tsantee, you're our only hope.
thanks. jmj

I don't know, but I'll be pondering it while bowling tonight. Meanwhile, check out this thread: here
I don't recall this appearing as a problem before and now there's two in one day. It must be the full moon. I'll get back later. May the force....

I'm just a fellow Toast-user so please don't blame Roxio for any misguidance I may provide. And do let me know if your issue gets solved. Cheers from Eugene, Oregon!

Do you have your hard drive set to go to sleep in the System Preferences? Maybe that is causing a problem.
Can you give the exact error also?

No, the HD is set for 2 hrs and the error doesnt take that long to appear. It isn't a specific error, it just says 'an error occurred during compression' BTW, I am getting this error when saving to disc image. I had already ruined a few dvds and decided to see if it works this way before putting in a disc. I was going to reinstall mac os x but it wouldn't let me b/c the version on here 10.4.7 is higher than the back up disc. Still thinking....

I get this error message frequently when starting the compression process. If I immediately switch to Popcorn 1.0.3 there is no problem. Prior to selecting Popcorn 2 I have ripped the DVD using the new beta version of MTR.

Since writing the above post I have attempted to copy three more dvds. Two out of the three had problems with Popcorn 2.
Having selected Main movie and main audio I clicked the record button. I then was presented with a window "waiting for the writer" I inserted my blank Verbatim dvd and immediately was shown "an error has occured recompressing the video"
A quick switch to Popcorn 1.0.3 selecting the same set up completed the copy.
It would be nice to have some comment from a Roxio representative as to why Popcorn 2 has these problems.

I know that it is virtually impossible to make direct contact with Roxio but surely there is someone out there who would like to comment on this problem. After all it is not an isolated incident.
