Hello everyone,
I created a DVD with three different movies on it. For each movie I used elemantary streams made with Edius 5.1.
I already burned the project 5 times without any errors. But after several changes on the movies and lots of replacements of the movies this is no longer possible.
While transcoding the last of the three audio streams DVDit simply crashes without any warnings. The only warning I receive is from windows 7. The sign says that the program is no longer working.
So I renamed the project. That doesn`t work. I rendered the specific clip again and replaced it. Also no succes. I created a wave file and replaced only the audio. Also no succes.
I would be very thankful for any ideas.
Best regards

Norman

After encountering the same problem on different projects, I started keeping a log to track down the issue.

What I discovered was that DVDit gets confused if too many changes are made.  No amount of replacing indivual video or sound clips will fix the problem.

I resolved it by starting the project from scratch, literally.  I don't try any short cuts because they are likely to end up with the same problem, resulting in more wasted time.

As much as I love DVDit, the program gets itself in a mess sometimes.

Given Roxio's "robotic" customer service, coupled with the fact that development has ceased and support has just about dried up since 2008, it is a real shame....  the software is a joy to use when it works properly.

Good luck !

Sometimes I had this issue with Windows 7 Professional (64bits). I edit with Edius 6 and in "exporter" I made a preset all compliant with DVDit! HD Pro: 24p, 5.1 .ac3, 35M. DVDit! never needs to transcode but sometimes I had the same  situation. Indeed I tried the compatibility with Windows Xp but I had no luck. Today is very rare to use DVDit!: only when I want a Blu-ray and also a DVD.Indeed, in my humble opinion, DVDit! must have a serious apropriated update! There are others softwares less expensives with more features who work whithout problemes.I can't understand what is the actual policy to Dvit!...

You must avoid transcodind.Always I export my video and audio files from NLE software with the format that DVDit! accept without transcoding (example: Blu-ray movie: 1920x1080 24p;PAL, closed GOP; PictCount 15; CBR; 35M; .ac3 5.1 384).DVDit! transcode these files to DVD without problem. Today is very rare to use DVDit!: only when I want a Blu-ray and also a DVD both with the same menu stucture like DVD.
DVDit! don't has all features that Blu-ray accept (pop-up menus and so).

I would agree and don't use DVDit to transcode video.  Once Scott left, it was pretty much the end of any help from Roxio on this forum so it would be very difficult to figure out what is causing the crash.
