Firewire Camcorder Not Recognized

Changes in Win7 have made FireWire (aka 1394 & i.LINK) capture more difficult if not impossible for older camcorders utilizing this method.

If your camcorder is not recognized, then you will want to try setting Win7 to a Legacy driver: (note that some older generation devices simply will no longer work :( )


Right Click on Computer and select Properties:

Select Device Manager:

Right Click your controller and select Properties:

Update Driver:

“Browse my Computer”:

“Let me pick…”:

Pick the “(Legacy) choice:

OK your way out and note “Legacy” now showing:
