I know I'm "beating a dead horse", but I'm the type (thanks to my extensive military background) that really has to find a solution to a problem. I was trained to believe that for every problem, there is a solution somewhere, and to keep trying until that solution is found. Something had to happen to cause the problem and there has to be a cure. A problem will never get fixed if all you do is treat the symptoms and not cure the cause.
I've had multiple problems with Creator 2010 and solved most of them except the "certificat missing or corrupt" error.
I've followed every suggestion and link provided by the Forum gurus as well as those by jonatsonic. Nothing worked.
As a result, I ended-up uninstalling every aspect of Roxio files except Photo Show, which works stupendously.
The one thing that continues to bother me is: why can't I get the missing/corrupted certificate problem fixed. I have no idea what the certificate is. I assume it is a file of some sort. If so, why doesn't Roxio provide a direct link to that file?
Here are a couple questions that have "bugged" me.
If the file was contained on the original installation disc, why is it not there now? If it isn't on the disc, then where is it and why doesn't the disc, or the Roxio "fix" links, locate and install it during the reinstallation of Creator?
If anyone can provide a logical answer to any of these, good. If not, so be it. I've come to the conclusion that Roxio/Sonic isn't overly concerned with fixing problems on various issues with relation to "old/obsolete" software. I just find it hard to comprehend that the "missing or corrupt file" problem hasn't been fixed. Creator 2010 was a fine program that I used a lot but now have to look elsewhere because I can't get it to install.
By the way. It's almost a guarantee that this will be my last post on this subject and any forum subject.

Don't give up so easily there.

I didn't write the application, but from MY extensive military and IT background, i can safely assume that the "certificate file" is a combination of the roxio / xonic product that you purchased, tied up with the activation  / registration key and some particulars about your install hardware - notably the volume serial # of the HDD that you installed it on.

When you start any roxio / sonic app it checks that file and if it doesn't like what it sees, then it fails the application.

Further, you can't copy it from your install CD because it's built during the install process.

If you get an install wrong - either by not disabling AV programs, etc or by not COMPLETELY ERADICATING ALL TRACES OF AN EARLIER INSTALL - then your new install will fail.

Most install failure issues revolve around not disabling the AV programs.

Most re-install problems revolve around not THOROUGHLY cleaning out prior installs. ROXIO'S OWN PAGE ON CLEAN INSTALL MISSES A FEW INSTANCEWS OF KEYS TO DELETE.

Here is there clean install page:

http://kb.roxio.com/...00206CR&PARAMS=

In step 6, you need to search from the top  for roxio and then sonic deleting any keys found. and when you think you are done go to top and search to verify. THAT will clean out the registry.

If you had it working before but you changed something, like your HDD it will fail, but that can be overcome by changing your HDD volune # to match your old disk.  Many apps WILL fail the certificate file if you change the HDD (i.e. volume #) it is running from.

By performing a THOROUGH clean i ws able to get it running, I also vefified the HDD tie-ijn, by taking a disk that would never run (cloned a partitojn onto a new boot disk) and changed the volume serial # to match the old disk. too abnout 2 minutes - mainly waiting for the machine to reboot after the volume # change, and it worked - no registry clean, no uninstall no av disableetc, just changed the volume serial # back.

But that was on a disk that had a WORKING install (when it was on the original HDD).

If you post back, lets us know how things turn out.

Kindly note that you have replied to a 10 month old thread.   boomsong has solved that issue  a long time ago.
Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.

Yes, it's an older thread. Howewver I can read, and from reading the OP, he solved it by giving up and looking for an alternate product.

These were the last words in the post:

'Creator 2010 was a fine program that I used a lot but now have to look elsewhere because I can't get it to install.
By the way. It's almost a guarantee that this will be my last post on this subject and any forum subject.'

That does not look like a "solved" issue to me.

That is not the case here. He made posts as late as 24 Feb 2011 stating that he could not get it sucessfully installed and running. This thread here was started in Jan. So no he never got it installed and apparewntly gave up in favor of Corel DVD.

Give me a LITTLE credit here.

I take that back, 26 Feb, not 24 Feb. I was just offering a fellow service member some added insight to a problem that he encountered previously that has that has recently vexed me, but that i got straightened out (but alas he could not).

I am also having a "certificate" problem with Roxio creator 2010. When I read the posted solution my eyes crossed. I guess I need simpler step by step instruction.(DUH)
My situation: I am running Windows 7 and I recently performed a Recovery operation. I have since been reinstalling programs.
I reinstalled Roxio Creator 10 and Creator Content a few days ago. I tried to open Creator 10 this am and received a message about missing or not found certificate and to reinstall the product. I uninstalled Roxio Creator 10 and Roxio content using Control panel/programs/uninstall a program. I have been seeing references to performing a "clean" uninstall, got confused and have not tried to go any further since my uninstall. So here I sit with my Installation disks in hand asking where do I go from here? Please help with simple step by step instruction.

Are you trying to install Creator 2010 or Easy Media Creator 10? These are two totally different programs (there is no 'Creator 10')

Except for OEM versions pre-installed on a computer.

The   OP would not have the disc for that anyway.  :)

Read/do this  .  It is a response pinned in the Creator 2010 Install section of the forum.
