I have a Media 100 edit system on a Mac 10.4.11. I export DV stream files and when I burn via Toast the DVD is all washed up.
Media 100 support site says...
There is a Luma and Chroma range difference between "native" Media 100 codecs and 3rd party codecs, but only if you access these files via QuickTime. Inside Media 100 it does not make a difference which codec you use, but if you open a digitized clip in another QT-based application there is a difference. For Media 100-codec files Black will be at RGB 16,16,16 while for non-Media 100 codecs black will be at RGB0,0,0. Compressor and iDVD expect black to be at RGB0, so if you take a Media 100 codec file into iDVD or Compressor it will be "washed out", since black will not be black anymore but only dark-grey.
I AM REALLY NOT INTERESTED IN THE REASON FOR THE PROBLEM AS MUCH AS THE SOLUTION. IDEAS?

Hello fellow Oregonian. It's been a long time since I got into a discussion about black levels. The best description I've found is by Bob Hudson here. Let me know if the info he's provided doesn't help you find a way to correct this.
I'm just a fellow Toast-user so please don't blame Roxio for any misguidance I may provide. And do let me know if your issue gets solved. Cheers from Eugene, Oregon!
