I am using Creator 2011 to Rip audio CDs to my PC. The following occurs when Grace Notes has not found a perfect match for the CD in its database (or at least it is not sure!) The program comes up with a window titled "Matched Discs", with a message saying "CDDB found some potential matches". The window may then display one or more CD titles, with buttons at the bottom of the window to "Accept" or to "Cancel".

On most occasions either the single name displayed or one of the names displayed is in fact the correct CD title. I click on the correct name, click on "Accept" and the window disappears but the information is not brought into Creator which just displays "Unknown" album and artist as well as "Track 1", "Track 2" etc. I have also tried clicking Accept without highlighting the suggested title names when there is only one name displayed, but with the same results.

Has anyone experienced this problem? Is there a way around it? Or is this a flaw with the software?

It's more likely the CD is a re-mix and hasn't found its way to the database.

Are these commercially produced bought Audio CD's?

Evan a put together CD from ripped tracks and off a few seconds in time per track can experience this behavior.

Thanks gi7omy. No, the CDs are not remixes, e.g. Rod Stewart - Unplugged. Moreover the database seems to recognize them since it comes back with the correct name as the "potential" match. The only thing it does not do right is to bring the information into the Rip window even after I click "Accept" for the suggested choice.

Thanks cdanteek. Yes these are commercially purchased CDs. And not very old either. The program does not seem to do what it has been designed to do, i.e., to download the information to the program once the user indicates it to be correct.

I am experiencing exactly the same problem.  In some cases if I click on the potential match that I don't want then Roxio will fill in the correct album data.  If I pick the one that is the best match then it comes back with Unknown Artist.  Very bizarre behaviour.  In many cases it just doesn't matter which potential match you select, Unknown Artist always comes up no matter what.  It is exactly as you describe.  The CDDB data does not get passed to the RIP application properly.

Did you ever find a solution?

Do you haver the check box for the audio tags checked?  Not all types of files will allow the audio tags to be changed.

Are you using Rip or Rip-Advanced?
Try using the Advanced one if you're using the basic one.
One cool thing is it let's you load multiple discs at once.

I've ripped over 1000 cd's and never had this happen.The only time that I had any issue was if I tried to rip a non-commercial disc.Other than that I've not had the database come up empty handed.And I have some,let's say,non-mainstream discs.
In fact,I've ripped that same disc you're talking about (Rod Stewart) with no problems.

I don't have 2011 on this computer but I do on my machine at work.I'll try that same disc after a bit and see what happens.
I did use 2011 when I first ripped that disc to my library.

I just tried this on 2011 at work.
I got the same result as Musical did.It popped up the box,I chose the first match,hit Accept and then it just shows Track1...Track2...etc.
I did get a pop up for SP1 for 2011 so I'm downloading that now to see if it makes a difference.

Same question does it show unknown artist where the red arrow points?

Ok so I did the SP update and the Rip app still only shows track numbers.

cd,to answer your question,I can't.When I try and open the Rip-Advanced app I get a certificate file missing error.I don't have time to trouble shoot that right now.

2011 is acting differently than 2012.I have no issues using 2012.It's only when I try 2011 that I only get track numbers.
