I have the retail CD version of EMC 8. I removed it from my XP SP2 system, and I am trying to reinstall.

Near the end of the install process, I get a dialog pop up the says "Please insert the disk"

I have retried this with both my install disk, and a copy of the install disk.

I have tried to manually delete everything that appear to be a Roxio file.

While that dialog was up, using windows explorer I verified the disk was OK and readable.

Go to Microsoft.com and search for and download msicuu2.exe. remove all ref to roxio and sonic if you have no other programs from them loaded. Then re-install emc8. If you have other programs from roxio or sonic. then you have to be a little more selective.

In addition to what terrrye says, reboot after you use the Microsoft Cleanup Utility, then re-install EMC 8.

I have the same problem as gettier, but the dialog popup appeared already at the first installation.
I tried the 'msicuu2' (and other) solutions, but it did not work.

I have found a solution. I copied the complete program CD to the hard disk and did the installation of from that. This worked.
Thanks for the support.

That is a solution we have recommended before. I did not even think of it, this time. :) I am glad that you found that solution.
