I am having lots of difficulty figuring out EMC 7.5. I don't know the proper terms for what I want to do. I found this forum and you guys seem to have all the answers and give them in a way that makes some sense to me.
This is what I want to accomplish. Start with transferring video from Camcorder to finished product of a DVD with the opening menu to show sections of the video. Like one part would be labeled "first t-ball game," "camping trip," "youth choir singing on Mother's Day,"..etc.....Then if I wanted to watch my oldest granddaughters baptism all I would need to do is using the remote for the DVD player select the picture labeled Olivia's Baptism.
I can successively capture the video onto my computer and it is in a folder. I have successively burnt the entire video to a DVD and it is playable. So, my problem is how to manipulate the video in Roxio EMC 7.5 to get the finished product I want with each scene/activity is represented on the initial screen of the DVD.
I even bought Roxio 7.5 for dummies and have learned a lot, but I do not know what to call the actions I want to do to end up with the product I want. So, trying to figure it out by the book is impossible.
My version of Roxio EMC 7.5 is a full version box purchase.
I hope you can get me on the right track.
Thank you,
Bonnie

Hi Bonnie. This should get you started.
First, load the first of your videos into Videowave, make any changes you want, and then save it. Repeat that with each of the videos giving each a unique name. Make sure you know where on your hard drive the files are being saved. They will each end with a dmsm extension, such as Olivia's Baptism.dmsm.
When you have all the videos save as dmsm files, open DVD Buiilder. Click Add New Title in the Add Content window, navigate to where you saved the dmsm files, highlight the file you want to appear first and then click Add. The first frame of that file will appear as a thumbnail with the file name appearing below. Point to and click the text box under the thumbnail and type in the title you want. Repeat the above for all remaining dmsm files. You should end up with one thumbnail for each file.
You can change the menu heading, background, audio etc. as you like. Once you are done, click the Burn button to start the process to burn your project to a DVD.
Hopefully that will get you started. When you a have specific questions down the road, don't hesitate to post a new question.

Okay, I got that part done. Not quite the way I thought I would be able to do it, but none the less I have a dvd set up the way I want.
I burnt the dvd and it will play on my computer, but it will not play in any of my dvd players. I have been doing some research. I just wanted to check with you to see if I am interpreting correctly (not likely).
I would have a better success rate on a burn if I use a high quality dvd and get the -R???
thank you,
Bonnie

Good quality is always important; not necessarily the highest price. Go the the web site of your burner manufacturer and see what they recommend. Minus R is supposed to be more universal but it really depends on the player. If it plays OK on your computer, then it burned OK. Find your manual for the player and see what it will play. Some players will just not play home burned DVD.
Many people have better luck burning to an iso file in DVD Builder and then copying that file to the disc using Disc Copier. Is that what you did? If not, try it. The advantage of the iso file is that it separates the encoding process from the burning process. It is an exact duplicate of what is going to be burned to a disc. That way, if you want more copies (and you probably will), all you have to do is copy the iso file again.
Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.
