I don't know if anyone can help but I am unable to burn directly to DVD with the plug and burn option.
I have a Canon MC600i camcorder connected to my PC via a firewire.
I open DVD Builder then Click on Plug & Burn then select my DVD-R drive.
When I select to capture the entire tape I am told that there is no tape in the camcorder but if I use the play button within the DVD Builder program I am told again no tape but the tape begins to play in my camcorder and can also stop, rewind or fast forward the tape with the programs buttons even though it says it can't.
I have tried the with 3 different tapes and get the sames response.
Can anyone help!!!
Thanks

If you try just a straight capture to your harddrive, does that work out for you?
I'm just wondering if the program isn't recognizing the camera properly, or if it's plug and burn being a problem. It's not the preferred method anyway, since your computer has to capture, encode and burn all at once. Chance of errors is increased. Don't know why that feature was even invented.
I had a similar problem once with a Sony camera. I needed to capture some video from it and while it showed up in the capture screen, when I clicked 'capture', little or nothing would happen. I have a Canon (different model than yours) that works fine. I had to firewire from the Sony to the Canon to the computer.
All I can figure is roxio is not compatible with certain camera (models).
Someone out there back me up with info on that statement? I thought I'd seen mention of that before.
Although, maybe it's your firewire card? If you list your computer component specs, there are many on this forum quite familiar with which components are and are not compatible or suitable for use with the roxio programs. They can then advise you as to whether it's really the software or hardware that's giving you problems.
good luck

Plug n Burn is dependent on all the hardware working properly together to capture and burn the DVD. Some can do it successfully, but obviously, Plug n Burn won't work with your computer and camcorder.
I'd suggest that you Capture the video from your camcorder, put it on a DVD Builder menu and burn it to the DVD. It's the same process that Plug n Burn does, but it's easier to accomplish because you're separating the tasks.
