with toast 7.01, 7.02, 7.1 and popcorn

using the same sequence of events and media I've been using this happens EVERY time. It might be 10.4.7 because that's the only thing that's changed.

The applications just will NOT compress. Toast will burn data and anything it doesn't have to compress.

I've posted all over the usenet, Ripdifferent.com, every where

ibook G4. This has to be a Roxio issue but there's no knowledge base information available. Happens every single time. It's like one of those relentless PC issues except on a MAC.

Thanks for anyones' help. I do see a bunch of people with the issue and have not seen one resolution to it. One guy reverted to an older popcorn but that didn't work for me.

2.6.6 MTR to desktop doing the complete disc (plenty of space to throw off temp files) to burn with compression Video_ts file. Pretty straightforward and worked forever and suddenly stopped working.

One other problem is that I try to do a complete delete but it's fairly impossible because of the files that are on the ibook that don't say either roxio, toast or popcorn.

I've tried 3 different DVD's some of which I've ripped on the very same set-up.

thanks!!

Hello all...

I recently reinstalled all the software on my computer including mac the ripper and Toast 7. before I did this everything worked fine and was able to copy dvd's all the time...

since i reinstalled everything (including OSX software) I keep on getting the same error message (an error has occurred recompressing the video) over and over again. Tried installing Popcorn but gives me same exact error. I ripped a copied DVD w/ mactheripper and burned it with toast and this worked fine! Problem is the recompressing!

Anyone know how to fix this?

Please help!

I don't know the reason for the problem you're having. A couple thoughts: the ripping must be a full disc extraction. Also, choose Save as Disc Image to see if the error appears.
I'm just a fellow Toast-user so please don't blame Roxio for any misguidance I may provide. And do let me know if your issue gets solved. Cheers from Eugene, Oregon!

He,

first off.. thanks for the quick reply!!

Second: in MTR i am doing a full disc extraction, where do I "choose Save as Disc Image"? in toast or MTR?

Cannot find it in either!?!?

Instead of clicking the burn button in Toast choose Save as Disc Image from the File menu. If that works then you can mount the disc image file and preview it with DVD Player. Disc Images are burned using the Image File setting in the Copy window.

Is it possible this video has PCM/AIFF audio instead of AC3 or MPEG audio? If so the audio is taking up so much space on the disc there isn't room to fit the video even at the tightest compression.
