I captutred 52 minutes of video from a dv camera, broke it into 11 clips in the VideoWave 8 edit movie module and sent the Production to the DVD module. There I let the software create for me a menu button using the start of every panel. In preview, when I click a menu button, it plays the correct clip but it keeps on going. I want just that chapter to play. At the end of the chapter, it would be gravy if it returned to the submenu. But at minumum, I want the video to stop when it reached the end of the chapter.
I have done a fair amount of research but cannot fugure out how to do it. Can anuone help?

I have the exact opposite problem. I can't get all the chapters to play continuously. I want to start the DVD at chapter one and watch them all at once. After each chapter my dvd returns to the main menu. I have also done some searching through help menus and come up dry....I'm sure there is some setting somewhere....?

THE ONLY WAY to change this is if you purchased the Deluxe version.
If I read the poster correctly, I think he is talking about a SUBMENU. In this case, the thumbnails are chapters within ONE MOVIE so they will always play in sequence without returning to the SUBMENU.

I believe a way to solve this problem would then be to save all of the chapters as a different movie each, and import them separately into a submenu.

Hi - I know this is probably all easy stuff, but the help file is possibly the LEAST helpful of any I have EVER encountered. I mean, looking up the word "linking" in the index search doesn't come up with ANY direct hits? Please. I DIDN'T download freeware here - I bought a full program suite and really expected a comprehensive help file.
Okay. Steam blown off. I'm brand spanking new at this, but had basically the same question as the above poster...I'm slightly dotty in my old age, though, so any help you could offer would be great. Oh, and I'm working with the EMC8 Deluxe (also brand spanking new...)
My objective is to create a 2-button main DVD menu where one button links directly to the movie as a whole, and the second button goes to a chapter menu...so far, so good. My PROBLEM is that (as they do with most professionally produced DVDs) I would like to be able to choose to watch only single chapters from that chapter menu and then return directly to the chapter menu when the chapter is finished.
I have tried to do this with the settings boxes, by highlighting the individual chapter within the submenu and trying to find a way to get the linking area of that settings box to allow me to have the chapter button play the chapter, then go back. Are you saying that it is NOT possible to do do this at all? If so, then why are submenus not created equal?
Sorry about all the detail and questions, but I am starting to be really bothered that a piece of software that is being marketed with the high-end-editing-for-average-users angle is so badly documented and apparently limited in scope as far as (what I would assume to be...) simple menu linkage. I am already assuming that the creation of hidden "easter egg" links is pretty much a pipe dream, though I still haven't given up the idea of slipping one in on a dark background by using a very small background-matching text as a link...
Oh, and while I'm asking: Is there a way (I hope) to un-hook the thumbnail and the text and change their orientation to one another to something other than top and bottom? I like my text on the side...

To put the text on the left, simply delete the text from the bottom of the picture, then right click (or click on the "DVD Menu" Menu) and the click "Add Text". Then, position the text wherever you want it.
There are also some styles that use only text, and no pictures, so you could use those if you wanted to create the "hidden links" (Though keep in mind, on a DVD player, they don't have access to a mouse, only the cursor buttons
As for the chapter menu playing only the chapter (Which I don't recall traditional DVDs doing... eh) simply export only as much as you want to be played from Video Wave.
Do you have the Deluxe or the Suite Version? There is more options available in the Deluxe, though I can't check it out for obvious reasons

Hi, Katie.
Take a look at post number 10 in this thread. It should do exactly what I think you are describing as far as two main menu items; one to play the entire and one to go to a submenu to select individual chapters. The instructions are written to select a background theme with text only, but it should work with thumbnails backgrounds also, although I do not know what the thumbnail will look like.
Hope that helps
