I have loaded EMC8. I try to use a number of the functions, and I get a dialogue box with the message
"This is an invalid installation. Please install again"
So I do.
5 times!
Same result each time.
When I do reinstall, I am told that the software cannot find the "certificate file"
Any suggestions??

I see exactly the same thing after a clean install, Roxio-virgin machine, retail 8.0 box. I have opened a problem ticket with support on it, but I am not hopeful. I have had many, many problems with their installers, uninstallers and installation configuration info (stored in the registry) since the Sonic purchase of Roxio. I was hoping 8.0 would help, but if anything, it's an even worse mess than 7.5 was. The 7.0 release was great, except for a few instability (crash) problems in some apps that I could avoid being bit on by saving often. But now, I can't even start up the apps. And the 8.05 upgrader reports that the program being upgraded is either missing or the wrong version. Sigh. These guys have no idea how to write reliable software, and by "these guys", I mean the installer team, not the product team.

Well, you can undo the install by downloading and running roxizap.exe, and then going through the registry deleting all the keys and that have Roxio in the name or the value. But that's a dangerous thing to do unless you are confident in your abilities to modify the registry. I'm not going to mention which program you use because if you don't already know, you shouldn't be running it. :-)
But I did that and it brought me back to the point where it did not appear to be installed and I could run the installer cleanly again. However, note that it didn't help. I still get the "invalid installation" error after the clean reinstall. So I wouldn't bother. It's their bug and they'll have to fix it, or provide a workaround.

Im running Roxio 8 downloaded version I haven't upgraded to 8.05. I have an ATi card, running Omega drivers but I don't think this is a graphics card issue at all. The Installer will pop up when I run some programs but not others.
If I uninstall it using the windows installer without cleaning the registry it crashes my computer and I have to System Restore, if I uninstall and clean the registry of any Roxio 8 entries and then restart my computer it also crashes on the restart. Any ideas?
