Hi. I have a new Dell that I got in April. It has two drives, the CD/DVD read only and a CD/DVD RW DL drive. I just copied an audio CD using Roxio 8, and that went well.

I went into backup, found a file I really need to backup, and wanted to burn that. I put a DVD -R in my burner, and I tell it to burn. It tells me:

Medium not present - Unit not ready

It's ready and a blank DVD is in there (it's a large file). Roxio recognised the drive when I copied the CD. Windows Explorer recognises the drive. I upgraded the firmware off the Dell site last week. But for some reason, it's not seeing my blank DVD in there.

HELP! Thanks.

This also looks like it recognizes cd's but not dvd's.What kind of drive and model is the cd/dvd drive?
