I own Creator 2010 which came with the USB Video Capture device. Because of the location of my hardware and DVR I would like to use my netbook to do my video capturing (2GB Windows 7 Professional) and to then bring the captured files back to my desktop for editing. I don't wish to install the full Creator suite on my netbook (and have already installed a copy each on my desktop and laptop--computer #3 for those keeping count). I would like to know if there is a utility or (inexpensive) product that will let me capture video using the video capture device without a full install. (It is impractical for me to use the laptop for this purpose--it has essentiatlly turned into a second desktop).

Thanks.

Larry

The video capture device is an analog to digital converter.  If your source is already digital, it may not act as a passthrough device.

Most netbooks don't have the power to do the capture.  Which netbook do you have?  You may simply drop frames since the netbook doesn't have the CPU required for capture.

I assume that you are trying to capture from the DVR.  Are the shows you want to capture DRM free - some are; some are not?

You've already bought at least 2 copies of the program (one for the desk top and one for the laptop).  Are you sure you want to buy another?   As fof other software, you will have to find it yourself.  Here is what Roxio  sells, also look at Cnet.com.
