I hope somebody can give me some advice on this one.  I am trying to install Easy Media Creator 8 from CD onto the following system :

Win XP Home SP2
AMD 64x2 Dual Core processor 4800 2.41GHz
2GB RAM
DirectX 9.0c
Windows Media Player 10

therefore satisfying the system requirements on the product box.

I receive the following error towards the end of the installation :

    Error 1904 Module C:\Program Files\Common Files\Roxio Shared\MPEG\RoxioAC3Enc.dll failed to register
HRESULT -2147221164 Contact your support personnel

Ignoring this error resumes the installation, but it is quickly followed by another 19 occurrences of siminlar errors (with different .dlls)

The installation process completes and the software can be launched, but some components (notably the DVD Cineplayer) refuse to work and display errors, most likely because they have been incorrectly installed.

Asking Roxio provided a link to a Microsoft page which suggested that I had an out of date MDAC file.  I don't see how this should be the cause, but I tried it anyway.  I downloaded MDAC 2.8 (which took a long time over a dial up connection) only to discover that my system already had this version.

I can't seem to find any way of contacting Roxio by email to tell them that their solution is incorrect.

I next did a Google search and found that the problem may be due to my processor having a Data Execution Prevention function enabled, but following the instructions to disable this and re-attempting the installation had no effect.

Can anyone help?

Regards

Derek

I am having the same problem plus.

I had Easy CD Creator 6 which worked great for a couple of years.  One day it became non functional.  I tried to uninstall but could not.  I manually removed all files I could then ran a registry cleaning program.  I then bought EMC8 and ran into the problem you are also having. I chose the "ignore" button and all seemed to install.

Now when I try to use EMC8 Creator Classic it starts, then tries to install ECDC6 and freezes the program.  ECDC6 still shows on my list of programs in add or remove but will not uninstall, probably because there are no files.  I can't even repair or uninstall EMC8 without running into the 1904 error message.  My computer has the file that MS says I need so that is not the problem.

After reading many of the threads in this forum about this FUBAR program suite I am thinking of buying something else. :)

Thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately I think your post over complicates the issue.  I did not have any previous versions of EMC installed and so I wouldn't have encountered the problems which you had.

Further to my experiences, I tried to install Nero 6 to see if this worked, but I got similar registration problems (albeit with different DLLs), so I think my XP installation has become unstable.
