when I add an clipart as an overlay it the picture shows through on the rest of the photo's of the movie presentation.

You can add the overlay to the Internal Track of the clip and that way it will stay with that clip and not exceed its length, even if you later move it to another position in your production. Right click on the clip > Edit > Edit Internal Tracks.
