No Entry Sign On My Files - Creator XE

hi still trying to get there got creator with windows7.can now open mydvd after following instructions.media manager will accept my files only works on computer not dvd players.i have swapped option from data disc to multimedia and ntsc to pal still no joy.i also tried mydvd which will now open but doesnt seem to recognise file has put a no entry sign on it.i have other files that it does open with wmp sign on it.first files are avi and i think should be okay.any help gurus plz

Joe, I'm confused by your post.  I can't tell if you are making a data disc or a video disc (use of MyDVD is a hint that you are trying to make a video disc.  What type/format are the files you are adding to MyDVD?  Where did you get them?

Please answer these questions if you are serious about getting help on this forum.   Confirm that you are using Creator 2011 and not something like Creator 10.x DE.

ill try guru im tryingmake video dvd from funnies i downloaded from utube.i think they are in avi format.im using roxio creator xe just got it free with a dvd writer i bought. so havent completed one properly yet i posted earlier and was given starter instructions which i followed.updated service pack 1,explorer 9,video card and service pack 1 for microsoft office.
im using windows 7 home premium on a toshiba sattelite pro 32 bit. i think its 3 gig ram.i have 50 gig free on disc c and 44 gig on disc d.i have an external hd with 200 free of 500 the roxio system is on c. my external writer is disc f.hope im helping

Ah, that may be the problem.

XE is a cut down OEM (limited) version that is given away with computer part purchase such as Mad Dog Burners (Mad Dog is out of business the last time I looked). .

Note the OEM designation. Reading between the lines, looks like Media Manager, Media Import, MyDVD, maybe Music Disc Creator, and Disc Copier. Some of those may be the Assistants which have limited capabilities. Read this thread.

Chances are that the format of the files are not supported by the XE version.   It is also likely that XE is not supported in Windows 7 because it was a cut down version of EMC 9.    How long ago did you get it AND with what burner?

just got it yesterday with lacie dvd writer that works fine ive done a clip on convert dvd4 to try it its very fast ive just downloaded creator 2011 will see how i get on with that good chance ill be back though cheeers again guru
