Based on the information you have given, I havn't got a clue.

Give us a step by step of what you have done, tell us how you have got  everything hooked up....details details.

We are just fellow users on here, not Roxio, and we can't see over your shoulder.....nor have a crystal ball to see what you are doing.

I had the same problem and in my case it was a defective cable that plugs into the hardware device. I happen to have an EyeTV Hybrid that had a similar cable and when I used it instead the device worked. So it is possible yours is defective and needs to be exchanged. But I don't know this for sure. What model Mac do you have and which version of OS X? You are connecting to a built-in USB port and not through a hub or a keyboard USB port, right?

Answer the last question in post #4.

As a quick test, try hooking up a DVD player (instead of your VCR). Also use a different set of cables.

Looking at cables does not mean that they are working OK.

I wasn't aware that Roxio released a recent update of the application to version 1.0.5. If you don't have it, download it here. It resolves a known audio issue so it may not make a difference with your issue. Worth a try, though.

Just got my Roxio VHS to DVD, to transfer Tapes and LPs.
Installed the software.
It launches.
Shows the window: "name your recording", timer and View Meter, big red "Record" button.
I am plugged to my Amp's Main Output.
I play my LP, press "Record", timer works, the view meter shows the bars going up and down.
Video preview window looks green.
Then when I stop recording, I have no option to save anywhere.

I run Snow Leopard (10.6.8) on an iMac Core i5 2.5GHz
The Roxio Software is version 2.0.1. (just released today).
Have read many threads.
Plugging the USB after launching.
Cable seems to work as the view meter attests.

Any other ideas?
Is the Video Capture USB itself defunct?

My understanding is the Easy VHS to DVD for Mac only records video and audio together. It isn't for recording audio only. The PC version supported audio only recording but not the Mac version. If you want to digitize your music you can connect the audio to the audio input jack on your Mac and record with QuickTime Player or you can get software that is designed for this such as Bias' SoundSaver".

You are right. I had initially checked the specs for PC but did not read in details the Mac specs.
My fault!
Still I have some videos to transfer (as soon as I can borrow a cam that reads Hi-8 format).

Now if I try through Quick Time, do I just plug my amp output into the Mac Audio Line In and chose new audio recording?

Thx for the help.

That should work. You can look at QuickTime Help for additional info.
