I began using Roxio in about 2004, when I had a Dell Inspiron  8500 (Intel Pentium IV, 2.2GHz; 2GB RAM and with ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 32MB graphics card), running Windows XP. I started  with Roxio Creator 7 which  I  later upgraded to v9. This all worked fine.

Two years ago I bought a Dell Vostro 1510, largely thinking of what I needed for the office  (Intel Core Duo 2, 2.5GHz; 4GB RAM, but apparently with a standard VGA graphics adaptor) originally running XP but recently upgraded to Windows 7. I had little time for video work, but just resumed recently, obtaining a 2 TB external drive connected via ExpressCard to the laptop, and  I now have Roxio Creator 2010. From Digital8 tape I’ve captured a large number of family videos.

But I see I may have a problem or two. When I try to begin editing captured video, I get error messages about “insufficient graphics capabilities” to support DirectX 9.0, so realise the Vostro may be underendowed.

What are my options for editing? Must I go back to using the Dell Inspiron (which is now my wife’s)? Or could I supplement the Vostro’s graphics via its ExpressCard slot?  Or obtain a Dell NVIDIA GeForce 8600M Video Card as an upgrade (available via the internet).  Or even perhaps go back to an earlier version of Roxio, using the Vostro?
Any suggestions gratefully received... -VILARESTALL.

As that is a laptop, you're completely out of luck (it can't be upgraded in the graphics department unfortunately)

Sorry about that
If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed
