Can someone help me please, I am having an issue with my Rovio 2010 after installing it on my Windows XP and having rebooted the machine I click on the Roxio short cut and get a small blank window showing a red cross and roxio by the side of it . Even when I click on programes then applications the same thing happens. The only way to get it off my screen is to close my computer down and to restart it up to get back my screen.

Essentially you need to start from scratch.

1) Use this to remove Creator 2010. (link)

2) Update your computer doing this Updating your burners firmware is optional unless you have a problem later.

3) TURN OFF your anti-virus, not just pause it.  Turn off and never turn on any registry cleaners you have.

4) Reinstall from the disc.

This should not take more than 20 -30 minutes or so depending on how outdated your computer is.   Please post your computer specs and what SP you are running with XP.

BTW, The program is Roxio; not Rovio.

Thank you for your reply, My computer detail:- AMD Athlom ™ 64 X 2 Dual core Processer 4000+ 2.15 Ghz, 1.87 GB of Ram.
I am useing Microsoft Windows XP, Home Edition,Version 2002,Servic Pack 3.
My Broadband is from my SP Virgin Media.
I am a nurd are you saying I need a video card before I start??????

Video card or chip?  Did you build it or is it a commercial machine.  If so, what make and model?

No I did not build I got it 7 years ago from a computer shop, forgive me but I am a 67 year old nerd so are you saying I need to add a video card to make this all happen correctly ??????

Well, obviously your system has some sort of video processing capabilities since we can assume you have a monitor connected and working.  

Depending on what parts of the Roxio suite you're using, you may or may not have enough video capabilities.  If all you're doing is writing data to CD or DVD, or working with audio, then whatever you have for a video card or onboard (on the motherboard) video chip will be fine.  If you want to start doing video work, putting movies onto DVD, you may, or may not need to upgrade your video capabilities.  That's why it's good to list your video card/chip with your system specifications.

I'm using the built-in video capabilities of my motherboard (Radeon HD 4200), which works quite well, though it is a few years newer than your system.

Thank you David DW it look like I have to get my computer updated as I donot have video card it is 7 year old.

Well, you haven't told us what you want to do with the program.  Are you planning to do video work?  

And again, tell us what you currently have for a video chip or card, it may indeed be fine.  If you go into Device Manager, under Display Adapters, tell us what it lists there.  (Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> System, click on the Hardware Tab and then click the "Device Manager" button.)

Now whether it is capable of handling PCIe or it only has AGP all depends on the motherboard (that will come up at the top left at initial boot)

First I want to make sure that you realized that the blue text in my first post were links to instructions.  Did you try updating your computer according to the instructions?

With a 7 year old computer, I wonder if the video chip is  DirectX 9c compatible.  Looking at google, that was about the time it was released so it might be that the chip does not meet the minimum requirements.  Before you decide to buy a video card, you should do some soul searching about upgrading a 7 year old computer vs buying a new one  (prices of computers are much lower than what you probably paid for yours.) You can probably get a decent video card for well under $100 and you can put it in yourself in a few minutes.

You are not wasting our time; we love to solve problems.   We need a dialog so you have to respond to out questions; we can't just continue to ask them with no response.  

For the third time (or maybe 4th) what do you want to do with the program?  Make slide shows, make videos, edit audio, back up your hard drive, etc.    There are over 30 applications so we need some clarity.

Dabs (http://www.dabs.com ) do a selection of graphics cards all under the 30 quid mark

You'd need to know what sort of graphics slot you have in the motherboard - generally AGP is brown (and set back from the other slots, PCIe is black and PCI is white (but PCI cards are very difficult to obtain these days)

If you can give is the model and number of the board (look at top left when it boots first) we can check what sort of slot it uses

Hi,I am sorry I am try to keep up with every one But if you must knod I have Parkinsons Disease and it slow me down and make me very distrest but I will get back to you.

I would like to use it to put video on to dvds, film work and downlod mosic to dvds. I have found out that when I went to the desplay adapter it came up with this  NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 dated 17/09/2008. Any help when it come to my problem.

OK - first thing to try is updating the video drivers. Go here, download the file and run it

Now whether or not that fixes your problem is a different kettle of fish. It's possible you just don't have enough graphics RAM to do video work, but let us know anyway

Hi, I have done what you suggested in downloading NVIDIA and all went well, then put on the Roxio programme and that also went well, but when I went to the shortcut I experienced the same thing that brought me to this website in the beginning, i.e. a window appearing on my screen with a small red cross and Roxio by the side of it, this time with three smaller windows within this frame.  So had to close computer down and re-start to get rid of this window, then I played a DVD then in the right hand side a small disc appeared showing Roxio disc, then whilst in autorun I was asked if I wanted to show this film on Roxio Cineplayer.  I clicked on this but nothing happened, and again had to close the computer down to get rid of this window.  So I`m not sure now what to do, I don`t want give up but any other suggestions would be welcome.  Thank you once again for all your help.

That now sounds like the registration window that you are seeing.  Something has gone wrong or it is a symptom of your video device.  Is this what it looks like (link)?   Try the solutions from top to bottom in the thread.  Make sure you have your anti-virus turneed off while you are trying to register.  Are you connected to the internet?

Yes it as you have see in your link its all down to registration, I just cant even when the anti-virus is switch off and I am on the internet. Ijust donot know what to do next ????

Did you update your computer according to the instructions?   Did you try to use any of the fixes in that thread?  

Since Creator 2010 is almost 2 years old, where did you get it?   Unfortunately, since it no longer a flagship product, you do not get the free technical support.

Hi, I got the programe from Swift-Deals.uk and Yes I've downloaded, uploaded, switch off , switch on and updated and still I cant use it. I have come to the end of my tether, the one thing it has shown me is I need a new computer or a Vidio and DVD recorder but I donot think they are around these days.
Thank you for your time and all your help but I think it time to closedown and call it a day on my machine.
