That is a well known error that has been around since Creator 2010 and that no one knows why it happens. It shows up randomly as you have found. The process described in this post (link) seems to be the best work around and does not take much more time espacially compared with having to do it over again.

I am sorry to say that the procedure in the link did not work for me. I still get the error message and no disc image
I am now on my 20th communication with Roxio Support over a period of 3 weeks. Nothing they have suggested works for me.

If only it did work randomly - that would at least be an advance for me !!!

In addition, please provide the source of the files camcorder make and model, video type, how did you get it on your computer?

How much video editing experience do you have so we can tailor the responses to your level of expertise.

I have been using MyDVD for several years for making Standard DVD. I am now wanting to make AVCHD DVD and I am getting the Error message eveytime I try to make a Disc Image or Write a DVD


"Project_BuildToDevice() AuthorScript call failed. Error while  Writing Format"

The origin of the videos is mixed but most is existing video made with Videowave ( in mp4)  or Serif Movie plus (.M2ts)

All relevant software and drivers have been updated including Dircct X, Netframework, video and audio etc.

I have tried following the procedure in the link given in this forum but each time when  the rendering processes finish in MyDVD the process appears to be  complete but the error message appears and no Disc image is saved.

I have tried other software ( eg MultiAVCHD freeware and SothinkHD moviemaker.)I get perfect results when producing discs or disc images. Unfortunately the user intefaces are not particularly friendly

On Roxio suggestion I have just deinstalled Roxio 11 including cleaning up the Registry. After reinstalling I get the same Error message. I meticulous followed The deinstall and reinstal procedure published by Roxio.

i feel i am near the end of the road, considering moving on by dumping Roxio and using a package I know works. I can,t imagine the problems i might if i tried  burning Blu-ray

Some people have issues with m2ts files. Why did you select to use that file format?  Why arer you using Serif Movie Plus?  Not all mt2s files are created equal.  I suspect that this is your problem.

Add a .mt2s file to "Copy and Convert Video" and convert it to a AVCHD or Mpg2 high definition video.  Try making a ISO file with only that converted file.   If you don't have a problem, convert all the m2ts files to the preferred format and go from there.

If that mt2s files doens't work in Copy and Convert,can  you use Serif Movie plus to convert to a different format  or you can find a free program that will do the conversion.

What was the original format of the files you conveeted to .mt2s ?

There is some bad news and some good news.

First the proceudre you suggested did not work I still got the error message "Project_BuildToDevice() AuthorScript call failed. Error while Writing Format"

Regarding background you requested. I have been using MYDVD as freestanding software for several years using different editing software. I needed MyDVD because I wished to put compilations of several short videos onto  DVD and access them from the top menu.
I have therefore got project files of several videos i wish to convert.
The .m2ts format is the AVCHD format I get if I use serif ( most of the project fiels relate this software.

I recently got a new PC and took the opportunity to instal Roxio2011. I frist tried making standard DVD from the .m2ts files and they worked perfectly so I was surprised when I problems with AVCHD.

After your suggestion I accidentally converted the file to mp4 standard not HD. Itworked with MyDVd but naturally quality when played back was rubbish but there was a clue.

I next tried making the video again from the project files but reducing the bit rate of the exported file from 17000 to 15000 but otherwise keeping the same format.
On putting the video into MyDVD it worked without problems, produced a Disc Image whic I have subseqently burnt to a DVD. The quality is superb when played back. Method tried with another video and was successful. It seems that my problem is now solved
