I'm running Vista Home edition on my PC with IE 9. Want to re-install Creator 2010, but everytime I get the message "a more recent IE version is currently running". Once I click "OK" the installation quits. Of course, I don't need to install IE 8 hile re-installing Creator 2010. How to avaoid this step??

There should be no connection between Creator 2011 and IE. Did you simply try to shut down IE? How about if you reboot and do not start IE? What version of IE do you have on your computer?
Follow these instructions (link). to make sure that Creator 2010 was uninstalled properly.
Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.
