Not sure but if it's like the rest of the UK it'll be PAL.

Other than the obvious answer (PAL), the only place I could find anywhere on my computer with the name "Ireland" was:

Right click My Computer
Click Properties
Click Hardware
Click Device Manager
Click on DVD/CD Rom Drives
Right Click your DVD drive
Click on properties
Click on the DVD Region (TAB) and you will find "Ireland" listed as one of the DVD region countries

Region code and PAL to NTSC are completely different. Region code is put on a commercial released disc, movie studio thing.

PAL and NTSC are video formats adopted by the country and applied to TV and Video.

Most players in Country's other than the US play both. Many players are available now in the US, that will play both fine on our TV's starting at $50.00.

Agreed cdanteek. I am aware of the difference. I was just adding a little information for others that might want to change the Regional code setting. When I read the word "Ireland", it just hit me that there is a place on your computer where you can find numerious country names :)

Ok Frank,
Region code was something the movie industry was considering dropping in the future! That would be a good thing. I have heard more US Military Women and Men complaining about it. When they do service in another part of the world and buy a DVD it's coded for that region. Then when they return to the US, you see the problem!

Because it's against the law, player manufactures can't advertise there players can be region free. Seems all those players have a punch in key pad code to deactivate the region code setting, and be region free. A internet search on the player finds the procedure. I just wonder how they get out there in cyber space!
Any ideas?

This probably would help some people Frank.  It's easier to look up the country...then the "region" clicks itself in.

I don't know where the op lives, but I hope he's aware that you have only a number of times that you can change the region on your burner.  Exceed it and your burner is a knick-knack.  I would suggest if there will be a number of DVDs burned for either region, get a second burner for the PAL.

Roxio software and Nero software burn Region Free Disc's. I have nerver heard of a burning software that does, its a movie industry thing!

Perhaps you should go up a few post's and read the difference.
That's why I posted it, so many confuse Region code and PAL and NTSC.
It's obvious from the quote above, your one of them!

I live in a world where spelling and grammer are important.
And manners.
I try not to have a hissy fit at someone I don't know when they make an error in a post,(even though I did know better with respect to Pal vs. Ntsc vs. region code).
I will make extra sure if I were to ever respond again, not to make an error so as not to offend you.  I do realize it could confuse the OP as well.

cdanteek is just an intensive person.  Sometimes it seems like he is having a hissy fit, but he is a good guy who tries to help folks.  You are a good guy, and you help folks a lot, too.  Let it go.

Okay, so I am trying to be the peacemaker in this case.  I can conger up a scathing diatribe and post it to some folks on these forums better than you two put together, can.  :)

Just in case you're interested, if you would like to set a region code for your DVDs (just like the big time Hollywood folks), get hold of a program called Adobe Encore.  I don't know about ver.2, but ver.1.5 will let you choose between setting to regions 1-6 and 8.  That's if you're interested.
