Error 1320 When Installing Roxio Content 2012

Question

When installing Roxio Content for the new EMC 2012, I get the error message "Error 1320. The specified path is too long, c:\Users\Eric\Documents\My Music\Triple Scoop Music."

Grateful if someone can help...

Do you have a Sony Vaio running Windows Vista by any chance? It seems to be happening with other apps as well when installing on that combination (at least I found a few instances when googling around).

Just resolved the problem...

Click on folder My Music > right click > Restore Defaults

What a pain... means my My Music folder has to always be on the default C drive and not on another drive...

The path you posted never was on another drive!

"c:\Users\Eric\Documents\My Music\Triple Scoop Music."

"c:\Users\Eric\Documents\My Music\Triple Scoop Music."

The installer was probably trying to install it on C: while his Music map was on drive D: or something like that. But... I'm just guessing here

There's a bug in the installer for the Triple Scoop stuff. The "My Music" folder has to be mapped to the default location (Win7) "C:\Users\<username>\Music" or else you'll get an installation rollback. Right now I suggest using "Restore Defaults" and use the library feature adding an additional library location. Can also try remapping after installation also.

OK, found the problem. Still a bug in the installer but you can workaround it without having to remap anything.

When you move the location of My Music it deletes the folder below which the installer is looking for.

Steps for workaround:

1. Create folder C:\Users\<user_account_you_installed>\Music

2. Install normally

You'll see a link in the Start Menu called "Triple Scoop Music" after installation. These are the new mp3s for video soundtracks.

Hi,

I think I am getting a similar (but different error). I found the following error in my log files:

Product: Roxio Creator 2012 -- Error 1320.The specified path is too long C:\Users\Joe Devine\Documents\My Videos\Roxio 3D Samples.

I tried the solutions recommended above, but, on my My Videos folder:

- Did a "Restore Defaults" on the My Videos folder

- Made sure there was a folder called C:\Users\Joe Devine\Videos

Those solutions didn't work for me. Any other suggestions ?

I have attached my log files. Thanks for any insight.

That should have worked. Audio and Video folders both need to be there. Check that the SYSTEM account has full permissions to write to it.

My SYSTEM account did have the full permissions, so, that was not the problem.

I had submitted a ticket on this to the help desk. Their sixth suggestion to me was to try

creating a new administrator account and install the product from that new account. I tried

it and that did work. I don't understand why that worked, but, I'll take it.

Thanks for your help....
