OK, her birthday is today and I want to have this DVD ready for her! Can anyone help ASAP?? THanks in advance...

I'm getting the error "Not enough hard-disk space for temporary files" when I try to burn a video made with VideoWave8. I have an 80gb hard drive and my drive J: has around 32gb left. My temp environment variable is set to drive J:\temp. There appears to be plenty of space...

What am I missing?

Can anyone help?

Thanks!

Sounds like you're just plain out of space on your system drive. Have you tried using Disk Cleanup, deleted internet browser caches, temp files?

Roxio does create "temporary" proxy files here:
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Roxio\VideoUI\Proxy

You can delete these manually or user VideoWave and go to Tools/Options and click on the Clear button.

Just because a dvd only holds 4.3gb of storage doesn't mean that's all the temp space you need. Usually, it's more like 4 or 5 times the size. As Lance stated, clear out some files and maybe even see what programs you're not using and remove them. My advice, take a trip to the store and buy a larger drive. My papers today had a 160 gb drive for $39. There's deals aplenty!

I've got a 290GB free on my external drive (where all the vid files are) and I'm still getting this error.

I changed the 'Proxy' and 'Narration' folders to that drive. STILL getting this error.

Where do we set the temp folders for MyDVD 8?

Any not settable thru the program would be wherever you have your systems temp folders set to. Have you tried changing that to your large drive?

THanks for the help.

My temp folders used to be on a drive with 12GB free. Now I changed them both to my external disk (290GB free). --- no change, same error.

Would it be too difficult for the software to tell you "Not enough disk space in X:\temp"... I'm sure it would save Roxio lots of support calls...grrrrrr.

My Windows TEMP/TMP folders are set to a 290GB-free external drive.

"My Documents" is on a drive with 500meg free and I'm sure MyDVD is insisting on using that drive instead of any other ones I've specified.

It must be using:
E:\Documents and Settings\<USERNAME>\Application Data\Roxio\MyDVD8\Temporary

I searched through the registry and couldn't find a way to change this, so I'm assuming it's hardcoded in the software itself.

The short-sightedness of the MyDVD programmers is pretty embarrassing. I mean, who the heck hard-codes the location of temporary files? ESPECIALLY since the software is made SPECIFICALLY for handling large amounts of data!? It's ridiculous.

How? As soon as I hit "Burn" I get the error so I can't choose a destination.

if you uncheck the box for Burn to Disc and check the box for Save Disc Image File, you can choose where to save the disc image file right below that... the destination is set before you click on Burn...
