Newbie question:  I am 2 days into MyDVD Premier 8 (already thinking I should have gone for EMC) and thought when I completed my 1st project that I had used the storyline/timeline.  I have now decided to further enhance the project, but when I open MyDVD and re-open the project, I can't find a way to switch to the Storyline view.  The menu items are all greyed-out.  HELP!

I just tried it with one of my old projects and was able to edit video and have all the options.  You'll have to give us more information about what you are doing and how you are doing it and please, somethings about your computer.  I'm not sure what menu items are grayed out on your version but I think only the EMC 8 deluxe has all the menu items enabled.
Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.

As it should be.  You must first click on the movie button and select EDIT MOVIE to get to the editing storyboard and/or timeline mode.
