Hi there,

been browsing throught the support forum here trying to find a solution to my problem and this was the nearest topic to my issue!  Hope someone can help  :)

I have just installed Roxio Creator Pro 2010 on my upgraded PC (basically a new Mobo/CPU/Memory/ SSD and o/s - nigh on a new PC!) but when I click on the 'Copy & Convert Video' icon the application fails to launch.  I have unistalled and re-installed, and I have installed the Roxio SP2 for Creator 2010 and the 'Web Video Capture Patch' but to no avail,  Copy & convert still fails to open and I get the following dialogue box message every time:-

RVC 1.jpg
RVC 2.jpg
RVC 3.jpg

I did try clicking the 'Check online for a solution & close program' option but nothing happens.

My PC specs are as follows:-
Gigabyte 870A-USB3 mobo / AMD Athlon II X3 450 / 8GB DDR3 / Fatality GeForce 7800GT / 128 SSD / 2 x 2TB HDD / 1 x 1TB HDD / Windows 7 Home Premium N with SP1 (64 bit)  (UK based)
Roxio Creator Pro 2010 version 1.2.193 SP 2.1; 5.0.0.0  Build 121B93A, R04; 500B22A, R04 - first time I have used Roxio was previously a Nero user  :ninja:

Can anyone shed any light on this issue?

Edited to add - forgot to mention that other applications/modules in Roxio launch OK

Cheers

Update:-

well, after having no joy from Roxio tech support ticket - they don't support Roxio 2010 as it a legacy product - I managed to eventually get Video Convert working.  Seems that Roxio doesn't like working with Windows 7 home premium N 64bit.
For those who are unaware, Home Premium N is basically Windows 7 but without IE, Windows Media Player, Media Centre, DVD Maker and other Microsoft bloat preferred apps included, thus giving the user the option of choosing and installing their preferred media applications.  Anyhoo, I reluctantly downloaded and installed the media pack (which includes the missing media apps) and lo and behold Video Convert worked!  I have since disabled all the Microsoft Windows Media features (which I don't think you can actually uninstall once installed, without doing some damage to Windows) and Roxio still works OK, so a wee heads up - if you are trying to use Roxio on Windows 7 (any version) and it's playing up, it might be worth ensuring you have the Windows media apps installed and updated.

We would not have guess that you did not have the required application installed.  I never heard of "N".

Windows 'N' is the EU version Steve

Back in 2004, the European Commission fined Microsoft a record €497m under an antitrust ruling. The Commission concluded that with a near-monopoly in the operating system market, Microsoft's bundling of Windows Media Player within Windows was anti-competitive. Microsoft was forced to unbundle the software and offer European consumers and manufacturers a version of Windows without it.

I remember that;  I just didn't know that the stripped down version was "N".   I wonder what that stood for. Was it any cheaper?

They were also supposed to offer an alternative to Internut Exploder but sort of left that out in W7 (you do get it as an 'update' option in XP)

Hi Sknis,  Microshaft sell both versions (N and full bloat) for the same price (which seems daft to me!)  but I shopped around and managed to get the N version 40 quid cheaper than the full bloat version.  My reason for going for the N version was simply freedom of choice of apps to use and that I didn't want to be forced to use a wodge of MS apps loaded that I wouldn't use and couldn't unistall easily, but is seemed they had me over a barrel as some third party apps won't work properly unless you have the full bloat version of Windows 7  <_<    Guess Microshaft have to claw back some money to pay for the EU fine somehow :P

Sparklydocs,

Be careful if you go to apply SP1 to your Windows 7.

I don't know if there's an E.U. version of SP1 out there, but my N version with SP1 included installs the applications such as Internet Exploder which are updated by the common garden variety SP1.
