Could someone please tell me what version of lame mp3 encoder is present in Roxio 2012? This can be checked in "C:\Program Files\Roxio 2012\AudioCodec". There should be a compressed lame file in the directory showing the version. In Roxio 2010 and 2011 it was version 3.96.1. I am hoping that they finally updated this to the latest public version which is 3.98.4 and has been out since March 2010.

Thanks for checking. I don't understand why they won't update something that is public license (free). 3.98.4 has been regarded as the best lame encoder version for quite a while now. Come on Roxio - attention to detail please...

Use EAC Exact Audio Copy. It's free and you can use what ever version of Lame you would like..

In common with most Open Source softyware, LAME is updated frequently - it's impossible for any commercial app to have the most recent version on its installation discs
