Memory: 3GB DDDR2
CPU: AMD Semprino
Roxio Software: Creator 2010 SE

I am using Capture Video and am getting an unknown error message after about 1 minute of recording.
It asks if I wish to save file? Y\N?
If yes, there is no data in the file.

1) Disconnect from the Internet and shut down your anti-virus.
2) Make sure you have nothing else running during the capture.
3) Capture as avi file not mpg2
4) Make sure you have lots a room on the hard drive and that it is defragged.
7) Blank spots in the VHS tape will cause the capture to stop. Are you at a spot where there is video and there are no drop outs?
8) Start the tape to where there is some video and then pause it. Start the capture and then press the play button. You will end up with a second or two of the paused tape that you can later delete.
9) Are you seeing the video or are you just seeing a blank/black box?
You siad you had a CPU: AMD Semprino (Sempron or Centrino?) processor. Which one and what are the specs? I've lost track of which and what. Does it meet the minimum requirements for the product?
"For video editing and conversion and DVD playback: Intel Pentium 4 2GHz processor or AMD equivalent and 1GB RAM. Multi-core processor with at least 2GB RAM recommended. "
Did you buy your computer outside the US? I can't find the specs on the HP site.

Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.

That will stop any e-mail and other traffic. that may take the attention of the CPU away from the capture. That's also why it is important to shut down your anti-virus (not just pause it). You don't want anything to get through your anti-virus/firewall while the anti-virus is shut down.
This what I get when I clcik on the link you posted;
