Brand new Dell Vostro laptop running Windows 7 64bit. I tried to install Easy Media Creator v 8.0 and received an error message that it wouldn't install on Windows 7. (Funny, it installed just fine on my Dell Precision T7500 desktop.) No problem, because I don't really need the software on my laptop. BIG PROBLEM in that the DVD player (TSSTcomp DVD-RW TS-L633J) is no longer recognized. I've tried the fix pinned to this forum, rebooted, and no luck. The other fixes that I located don't work for Windows 7. Can someone please help?

Easy Media Creator v 8.0 is not compatible with W-7 any flavor!

C2010, C2011, and C2012 are W-7 compatible..

Where is the TSSTcomp DVD-RW TS-L633J located Desktop or laptop?

Is any Roxio software installed on that PC with the TSSTcomp DVD-RW TS-L633J?

I stand corrected. I have Creator DE 10.3 on my desktop. I can't imagine why I tried to install version 8 on my new laptop, but now I just need to fix the problem I created on my laptop. Forget any reference I made to my desktop.

The TSSTcomp DVD-RW TS-L633J is located on my laptop. It is what is not being recognized any longer. I uninstalled the Roxio software from the laptop, so there should be nothing left on the laptop from Roxio.

I tried to run the fix entitled "DriveFix_Uninstalled.exe" but it would not run in Win7.
I have run the fix entitled PX Engine Update at http://kb.roxio.com/...mation/000070GN but it did not fix the problem.
I disabled the RX filter using the file at http://tools.roxio.c...c8/rx/rxfix.exe but it did not fix the problem.

What now?

Thanks for your patience. I uninstalled the DVD device, rebooted, verified that the device's driver was the most updated version, and I still receive a 52 error (shown below). I did this procedure twice with the same results.

What does that mean?

I told you to uninstall it and reboot.

As I said, I did the uninstall and rebooted. The device reinstalled its driver at reboot, just as you indicated. But there is still a problem as evidenced in the device's properties in the Control Panel. One of the options there is to make sure that the driver is updated, so I did that. I was just reporting the outcome so that you have all of the information that I can provide. The device properties still reports that "Code 52" error, which is what I've seen ever since the problem started.

1. From the Control Panel-->Device Manager, I selected the (now reinstalled) device, right-clicked, and chose Properties. The resulting window is shown below.

2. From that window, I clicked the Driver tab and then the Update Driver button. I was asked how I wanted to search for the driver software. I selected to search automatically (via online since the DVD containing my laptop's drivers won't work). This window is shown below.

3. A window displayed to report that the best driver software for my device was already installed. See window below.

You know, I'm a pretty good listener and an ever better looker and I'm sorry that I mistook the text "Change product key" as a direction from you rather than being part of the screen capture.

A couple of days ago, I had already Googled "error 52" and explored some of the top results. I had read the Microsoft article at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/982116 and had already run the Microsoft FixIt program. The program did not locate any problems so it did not fix anything. The other option in that article is to "let me fix it myself" and start tweaking the registry myself to change the upper and lower filters. Since this makes me seriously nervous, I continued searching for options and ended up on this forum a couple days ago.

So before I start messing around in the registry, I'd like to make sure that I'm not "dreaming up other things that won't fix" the problem. At the risk of being shouted at again, I'd like to ask if you believe that doing these registry tweaks is what I need to do now.

Look at the registry key and tell us if you show upper filters and lower filters?
