Hi all, I am new to Mac and popcorn (probably a bad combination)!! I installed popcorn 4 on my macbook pro osx lion 10.7.1 a few days ago and have had problems from the start. I have several videos downloaded (legally) in NTSC format when I burned them with the initial install I had picture and no sound, I looked here and saw a recommendation for perian which I downloaded and installed. I also installed the new popcorn 4 update, sine the popcorn update it has burned 1 dvd out of about 8 attempts. I get numerous failure messages, the first few discs got stuck halfway through burning and only restarting the computer seems to allow the disc to be ejected.

The dvd that did burn played and had sound but no picture aaaaaaargh!!! The last failure message was:

The drive reported an error
sense key = Hardware failure
Sense code = 0x09, 0x01 (the 0's might be o's I wrote the message down
tracking servo failure

That one sounds more like a dvd drive issue.

I was thinking of removing the updated popcorn and re-installing the disc verso but i am concerned that the key code provided with the disc will not work as it has been used before.

Can anyone help me please?? I will update with any further failure messages.

Popcorn 4 is not entirely compatible with Lion but it should be able to create a video DVD from various video files, which is what you're trying to do. Try choosing Save as Disc Image (File menu) instead of clicking the burn button. When that is finished select the resulting .toast file using the Image File setting. Now try burning the disc. If it still fails during the burn, change the .toast extension to .dmg and burn it to disc using Disk Utility.
I'm just a fellow Toast-user so please don't blame Roxio for any misguidance I may provide. And do let me know if your issue gets solved. Cheers from Eugene, Oregon!

Thank you for replying so quickly its greatly appreciated, well it now seems to be working!! I have burned several copies in the standard drag and drop and so far its been successful. hopefully it was just a teething issue as I never changed any settings.

Thanks again Sir.
