I am presently using Creator Ultimate 2009 on Windows XP.  I use Sound Editor to record streaming radio broadcasts.  If the recording goes pass three hours, the file is no good.  Regardless of this, I am looking for a feature where I can stop the recording automaticaly at a set time.  Does anyone know if there is a way to program this in Windows XP?

That has been reported recording past 200 minutes and the file is lost.

Do you have this option in your C2009?

Set it below 200 minutes and test it.

I booted into C2009 image and you don't have that option in C2009.

You can use the same option if your sound card can grab the audio like Creative cards do in what you hear.

Bomba1,

Your problem is arising because you're saving your captured audio in WAV format. A standard WAV file cannot grow bigger than 200 minutes [3hrs 20mins] because it runs out of counter space. It's an audio standard problem, not a Roxio issue.

Although WAV is the default setting for Easy Audio Capture [EAC] there are a number of other formats you can use, and none of them suffer from this 200 minute problem. Use the pull-down in capture settings to change file format.



If you still want to use WAV you can limit the recording time to a set number of minutes under 200 in the C2009 EAC, as cdanteek pointed out.

Thanks to all of you.  I do have these options.  I have one last question.  If I capture in MP3 format, will I use less disk space than in .wav format?

Yes, the ratio is about 10 to 1 kbps  (wav to mp3)  for file size.  It may not be exactly that depending on the type of mp3 but it will be close.  Post back if you have another question.
