When I hit the preview button when creating a DVD I get a very distorted sound. It sounds as though there is feedback. Then, when I close Roxio EMC 8 I can not get sound on Windows and I have to restart my computer for it to work again. I do not have this problem when I make audio CDs with Roxio. I have tried to find the problem on my soundcard and computer but nothing seems to work. I may be missing something easy, but need some help. Thanks.

First make sure that you have the latest version of DirectX 9c from Microsoft and make sure you have the latest audio card/chip drivers.

That by itself may help. If not, go to Windows Start>Run, type in dxdiag and run. The DirectX diagnostic window will open. Go to the sound tab and back down a notch or two on the acceleration slider. Now try it. This has helped other people especially those with built in sound chips.

After youn hear that distorted sound in "Preview", have you ever completed burning the DVD and then see if that same distortion of sound is still there, when played back on your computer or a DVD player ? If it plays O.K. on a DVD player and only does it on the computer then it's most like ly a probl;em with the sound setting or hardware on the computer. I doubt that will be the case but a process of elimination might help.
