i just bought the 2012 creator plus i did have 2010. i skipped 2011 all together. i did uninstall 2010 before installing 2012. after the program installs when on click on an application it
starts running the setup program again. i have a core 2 duo 2.4 Ghz, 6 gig ram, windows 7 pro 64 bit. the system requirements are met by my computer. i have uninstalled and reinstalled the program with the same results. i read people having problems with installation and tried some of the solutions that they suggested but still have the problem. (net framework was one i tried)

Roxio should work out major bugs like this before releasing a new product for i think it is deceiving the users when a product don't work as it should.

any suggestions from the public because i don't expect a solution from Roxio any time soon.

Couple of questions:

When you say you "Bought" the Creator 2012 program, did you buy it from a retail dealer or buy it from Roxio as a download ?

When you say you have tried re-installing the program several times and still have the same problem, did you do a complete re-install
or did you try doing a "Repair" ?

And when you say you uninstalled Creator 2010, can you give some information as to how you did your un-install ?

Frank...

If the app is trying to repair itself the disc may be bad. Try uninstalling and then run the attached .reg file to cleanup the registry keys needed for installation.
Try reinstalling after that.

i used the roxio 2010 to uninstall it then used ccleaner for the .reg cleanup then installed a retail copy of creator 2012. i will try again with the .reg file you suggested. there seems to be a lot of people with the installation problem. the update for the setup to correct bad keys is a suggestion to me that roxio released this program with the bugs that should have been corrected before a release. i am waiting for an update to the program itself to resolve all of the issues that apparantly a lot of users are having.

Why post your problems on this forum if you are not willing to take feedback to resolve? Roxio has a refund policy if you cannot get it to work.

The vast majority of purchasers have had no problems installing the program - occasionally someone does have a glitch but that is usually down to an error on Install (keeping av or other apps running) or a problem with their OS.
If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed

yeah you are right, but there is a lot of people who are having problems. Roxio must think so it has already released a patch on the setup so that it
correct a wrong key bug. i will keep checking the forum to see other solutions or just wait until maybe roxio releases a patch or a SP.

It's not a patch - it's a fix for a SMALL number of installations that have a partricular problem, It isn't a patch per se as it's not at all a common problem
If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed

Define 'lots' - there are scarcely more than a couple of dozen posts on this issue and they almost all are down to a registry problem or the installation of the MS apps in Windows itself.

I've installed it a few times (after re-formatting and doing all Windows updates) and never had a single problem doing that

4) again restart the computer
5) Go delete the folder in c:\Program Files ( The name of the folder will be the same name as the name of the product)
6) Now freshly install again.
Hope this will work.

Nayan,   please stop giving advice that can hurt people's computer or that are incomplete.  Editing a Registry should be done by only by the most experienced computer user.  Any mistakes could render the computer useless.   Creator 2012 has a very good uninstaller built in.

If the poster want more because they feel that that unstall program doesn't do its job, then something like Revo Uninstaller in the Moderate mode could be used.

check out other social sites and you will understand the definition of "lots" and the problems people are having with creator 2012. been there done that with re installing windows. the results are the same. the program is just buggy as hell and should never had been released at the present time. the Roxio Creator 2012 retail box states that is works with win 7 32 or 64 bit versions. it is deceptiveness for Roxio to release a product that is buggy. the product as of right now has a fix to the setup.exe file so the program will recognize the installation key. Does that sound like a ready for release software version? i think not.

I don't need to look up twitter, facebook or any of the other variants of 'look at me' information.

I repeat - the number of reports of installation problems are first, VERY low and second all stem from a bad Windows setup

Now that mightn't suit your criteria of a bug - but that's how it is

If the program was buggy to that extent - how come the vast majority have no problems in installation?
