I bought a new computer windows 7 64 bit and tried to install easy cd & dvd burning software which self aborted. I have an older copy of from pre vista days so I probably need to buy a recent copy. my question is, I use it only for transferring tapes and lps to mp3s and want to make sure the latest version still does this and if the functionality has changed any?

I have tried audacity along with free audio recorder and others the drawback is when i import then into itunes i have to reenter the album information, track sequence and tags

Roxio does a cut-down version ($30 cheaper than the full suite) which will do what you want and nothing else

The question you have to ask yourself is if you intend at any stage to use other than the limited capability of that in the future (in which case it would be better going for the full-blown suite)

i was looking at that but i dont like the idea of another piece of hardware when i was able to go through my sound card before. going back to the original question has the functionality and features changed from the version put out when windows xp was the latest windows version?

Generally the 'diced and sliced' component packs work in the same way as the integrated version in the main suite. It's quite possible that it WILL operate via the sound card (I can't say definitely as I don't have that particular app - just Creator 2012)

I have the same problem. I have Platinum 6 but don't want to buy the latest version just to change cda files to mp3. Any suggestions? Audacity doesn't seem to be what I need.
