I've been struggling with some files from a Sony DCR-DVD105 Handycam Camcorder. The files are VOB files on a mini optical disk. I want to convert them to something I can edit in iMovie. When I convert them using ffmpegx, to DV or other format, no matter what codec I choose, the audio and video are terribly out of sync. I'd buy Popcorn in a minute if I was sure it would do what I want; is there a demo available? Or can somebody offer another way to convert these things? I've also tried some utilities in Windows with the same result.
I'm going to try a friend's Final Cut Pro, but would rather be able to do it on my own system. I have a MacBook with Windows (though I prefer the Mac OS) so...suggesst away!
Thanks for any enlightenment.
Demo of Popcorn?

There is no demo version of Popcorn. Instead, Roxio offers a 15-day (I think) refund policy if you don't want it after all.
Your audio sync problem may be related to the audio setting in your camcorder. Be sure to use 16-bit rather than 12-bit audio. Apple has some knowledgebase articles about what to do if the audio was recorded as 12-bit. Search Apple's support site for something like iMovie audio sync.
You might check the Mac forum at videohelp.com to learn if there are others who have tips for converting your camcorders VOBs to formats that can be edited in iMovie.

I'm just a fellow Toast-user so please don't blame Roxio for any misguidance I may provide. And do let me know if your issue gets solved. Cheers from Eugene, Oregon!

Its 30 days, but you have to buy it directly from us. I recommend taking it for a spin and see where it gets you.
